Discount Espresso and Coffee Machines in Australia

Manual, dual boiler and fully automatic espresso

Australia has the most demanding home coffee market in the world, because the benchmark is not a supermarket capsule — it is the flat white from the cafe on the corner, made by someone who has pulled two hundred shots that morning. Getting close at home comes down to three variables: consistent grind, stable brew temperature and enough steam power to texture milk properly. Machines that skip any one of those will disappoint within a month, no matter how good the marketing photographs look. That is why we group this range by how much of the process the machine handles for you rather than by price.

A manual or semi-automatic machine with a built-in grinder gives you control over dose, grind and yield, and it is the honest choice if you enjoy the ritual and want to chase a specific single origin. A dual boiler adds the ability to pull a shot and steam milk simultaneously, which matters once you are making three or four coffees back to back before work. A fully automatic machine takes over completely — one touch to a flat white with textured milk and a self-rinsing milk line — and is the right answer for a household where nobody wants a hobby, or an office kitchen. Every machine here is 240V Australian stock with a local warranty and included accessories, ships free and insured, and is covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee.

Coffee machines — frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate grinder?

Only if you buy a machine without one, such as a prosumer dual boiler. Grinding to order matters more than almost any other variable, so if a machine has no grinder, budget A$400 or more for a burr grinder with stepless adjustment.

Are these machines 240V Australian models?

Yes. Every machine is an Australian model with a 240V plug, Australian instruction manual and local manufacturer warranty. We never supply 110V imports with adapters.

How do I keep my machine under warranty in a hard water area?

Use the supplied water filter and descale on the schedule in the manual. Perth, Adelaide and much of regional Australia have hard water, and scale damage is the most common reason a warranty claim is declined. Filtered or bottled spring water extends machine life considerably.

Which machine makes the best flat white?

For consistency without practice, a fully automatic Jura or a Breville with automatic milk texturing. For the best possible result, a dual boiler with a manual steam wand, once you have learnt to texture milk — the microfoam is finer than any automatic system produces.

Coffee machines buyer guide

Match the machine to the household

Count the coffees made in the busiest ten minutes of your day. One or two, and a single boiler with a fast heat-up system is fine. Three or more with milk, and you want either a dual boiler or a fully automatic machine, otherwise you will spend the morning waiting for the machine to switch between brewing and steaming temperatures.

Then be honest about who else uses it. A machine that requires a weighed dose and a dialled grind will be abandoned by anyone in the house who just wants coffee, which is how expensive machines end up unused next to a capsule machine.

Grind, temperature and pressure

Espresso is a 25 to 32 second extraction of about 18 grams of coffee into 36 grams of liquid at roughly 93 degrees and 9 bar. Machines advertising 15 or 20 bar are quoting pump capacity, not brew pressure — the useful figure is regulated brew pressure at the group head. PID temperature control keeps that 93 degrees stable between shots, which is what makes the second and third coffee taste like the first.

Running costs and maintenance

Budget for beans, filters, descaler and cleaning tablets. A household drinking four coffees a day gets through about a kilogram of beans a fortnight, roughly A$45 from an Australian roaster, which still lands well under a third of cafe prices. Replace the water filter every two to three months, run a backflush cleaning cycle monthly on machines with a three-way valve, and descale on schedule.
