Measure from the front of your sofa to the wall where the television will sit, in metres. For 4K content, a screen diagonal of roughly 25 inches per metre of viewing distance fills a similar field of view to cinema seating.
Typical Australian living rooms measure between 2.5 and 4 metres. Bedrooms are usually 1.8 to 2.5 metres.

TV sizing questions
How far should I sit from a 75-inch TV?
Between about 2.4 and 3.4 metres for 4K content. Closer than 2.2 metres and you may notice individual pixels on some content; further than 3.6 metres and the screen starts to feel small.
Does the calculator work for 8K?
8K allows closer seating — roughly 1.5 times the screen height instead of 2. Since almost no Australian content is 8K, we base the recommendation on 4K.
Should I round up or down between two sizes?
Up, if the wall and delivery path allow it. Australians who buy the larger option almost never report regret; the reverse is common.
